What is IACURH?

IACURH stands for the Intermountain Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls, and is a regional affiliate of NACURH, Inc. The National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH), is an organization whos purpose is tp "design and facilitate programs and informational services to promote the educational goals of residence hall students through discussion groups, seminars, and speakers at the annual conferences and other means of information exchange throughout the year ". The IACURH region includes Arizona, Canada (Alberta and Saskatchewan), Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming and hosts two conferences annually for schools in the region. Schools belonging to the Intermountain Affiliation are also permitted to send delegates to the annual NACURH conference.

NACURH is the largest student run, non-profit organization in the country. While the largest annual meeting, the NACURH conference, can draw thousands of delegates to a single convention, the roots of NACURH are in each individual school’s Residence Hall Association. NACURH released a vision statement that acknowledged on campus living as an opportunity for students to directly effect their community for the better, and for leaders to take the necessary steps to make campus the ultimate place to live, learn, and have fun.

Attending a conference such as IACURH will empower individuals to take advantage of the opportunity to attend seminars, join discussion groups, and meet people from other colleges. It truly is an invaluable learning opportunity. After the conference delegates are encouraged to take the knowledge they gained at IACURH back to their Residence Hall Associations where, through student diplomacy, they have the power to build the residence hall setting into a beacon of civilization and teamwork conducive to the four most integral years of their education.

Want to get involved? Join your school’s Residence Hall Association or comparable student group as soon as possible!
